The biography of musician Amar Singh Chamkila is the basis for the 2024 Indian Hindi-language biographical drama film Amar Singh Chamkila. Imtiaz Ali is the director, producer, and co-writer. The title role is played by Diljit Dosanjh, while Parineeti Chopra plays Amarjot, his second wife.
Irshad Kamil wrote the lyrics while A. R. Rahman composed the music for the movie. December 2022 marked the start of principal photography, which ran through March 2023. The film had a successful debut in Mumbai on April 8, 2024, and was made available on Netflix on April 12, 2024. It was well-received by critics, who hailed Imtiaz Ali’s comeback to form.
Before his tragic death, a modest musician struggles with skyrocketing success and harsh criticism; his bold lyrics spark fame and wrath throughout Punjab.
Amar Singh, who was raised in a Dalit household in Punjab, spent his adolescent years working in a factory that produced socks, but his true calling was making music. At last, he made the decision to remove the restraints and, with the assistance of his friends, began establishing relationships with local musicians. He began working with well-known singer and musician Jinda, who saw his potential and started using his words in his songs (without giving Amar Singh any credit). Because he was running late, he was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to sing in place of Jinda. The audience was so enthralled with Amar Singh’s performance that they refused to listen to Jinda, the lead vocalist. anymore, such was the power of his voice and lyrics . The rest of the movie follows his life’s journey after that event including his unsolved assassination.
Critics:-
I recently watched the film on Netflix.
The film, which is based on actual events, tells the tale of Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila and his second wife, Amarjot, who were shot and killed in 1988 by a small group of attackers who thought the lyrics of his songs were offensive.
The film is worth seeing because to Imtiaz Ali’s direction, A.R. Rahman’s score, and Diljit Dosanj’s acting, which from various angles only seems like the genuine Chamkila. In her part, Parineeti Chopra Chaddha excelled as well. Though one can see the mischievous eyes of real Chamkila ; but with Diljit it is pure humbleness and innocence.
The movie has a great deal of realism because real photos and reel frames are exhibited simultaneously in a few songs and situations. Diljit did a fantastic job with the part. His naive facial expressions gave the impression that he was a kind and ordinary individual.
Don’t pass on this film. 😆😆
#Must watch this Movie. 😆😆 It’s an incredibly Docudrama, Political Drama, Biography, drama, Music & Romance based film.
