Pixar Animation Studios, in association with Walt Disney Pictures, is the producer of the 2024 American animated coming-of-age picture Inside Out 2.
Riley turned 13 two years after moving to San Francisco. Since then, Riley’s personified emotions—Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger, and Disgust—have given rise to a new mental region known as “Sense of Self,” which contains the memories and emotions that comprise Riley’s essential self. Riley’s negative memories are pushed to the back of Riley’s mind by a mechanism that Joy invented with the intention of only filling Riley’s Sense of Self with positive memories. Riley receives an invitation to a weekend hockey camp with her closest friends Bree and Grace, with the goal of making it onto her school’s Firehawks hockey team. The “Puberty Alarm” goes off the night before the camp, and mind workers storm into Headquarters to update the emotion console.
Riley eventually enrolls in high school, where she makes friends with Val and the other Firehawks while continuing to be loyal to Bree and Grace. She waits around her phone with the team for Coach to post the list of new Firehawks recruits during lunch. The first and second generations of emotions collaborate to safeguard Riley’s ever-evolving sense of self now that they are at peace. Riley smiles proudly at herself in the mirror as she checks her phone to see if her name is on the list.
Critics :
With this film, Disney and Pixar really outdid themselves. Never before have I been so eager to see a movie or raved about one. I can so relate to this movie because I have battled anxiety my entire life. To begin with, the ensemble is simply amazing; it’s hard to imagine a stronger group. Maya Hawke, who plays the character of Anxiety, was ideal for the role; she and vanilla went together like peanut butter and jelly. Even though Joy and Anxiety didn’t get along at first, I still loved them together and cried when Joy finally got Anxiety comfortable in her special chair. Maya Hawke and Amy Poehler are a match made in bliss.
Riley’s character growth and her feelings provide deeper insights into the intricacies of anxiety in the plot. It captures the mental struggle that arises constantly when faced with uncertainty by deftly illustrating the interaction between fear, worry, and the need for control. From the subtle hesitation in making decisions to the overwhelming rush of emotions during a crisis, the animation effectively depicts the various manifestations of anxiety.
Don’t pass on this film. 😆😆
